Technical changes proposed for CKPK 102.7 Vancouver

Postby Dan Sys » Tue May 15, 2012 8:17 pm

The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group has applied for several technical changes for CKPK (The Peak) in Vancouver when the approved frequency swap with CFRO (Co-op Radio) occurs. CKPK is currently located at 100.5 while CFRO operates on 102.7.

CKPK 102.7 will reduce power from 51,000 to 34,000 watts (100,000 watts to 70,000 watts maximum ERP), raise the antenna height from 590.4 to 682.4 metres (EHAAT), and relocate the transmitter site from the Fortis BC tower to the Rogers tower (both on Mount Seymour). The new contours are virtually identical to the previously approved contours.

If nothing else the original Spring 2012 target date for this frequency swap will likely be delayed by a month or two while both parties wait for CRTC approval.
