ALDEN DIEHL
ALDEN EDGAR DIEHL (The Big Guy) Died peacefully in Delta Hospital, Ladner, B.C., Thursday, October 26, 2000, after a short illness. Born in Cyprus River, Man., June 10, 1931. Predeceased by brother Maurice Diehl, mother Irene Diehl, father James Diehl; survived by wife Margaret Diehl (nee Kilmury) daughters, Debra (Ron) Kay, Janis (Tom) Lumsden, Kathy (Jim) McIsaac; son Darin (Jeanette) Diehl; brothers, Frederick Diehl, Barry Diehl and 13 grandchildren. Alden was a very successful, well respected radio broadcast executive whose career included management positions at CFRA-Ottawa, CKLW-Windsor, CKY-Winnipeg, CKLG/CFOX-Vancouver. He also served on many broadcast association boards throughout his career and received various industry awards. He was blessed with an angelic voice and was a renowned tenor soloist in many United Church choirs. He wrote and performed a comic recording called "Fight on Manitoba" for which he received a Juno nomination and performed principal roles in musical theatre across Canada. Aldy will be remembered by anyone who knew him as one of the most inspiring people in their lives. A memorial service will be held at Tsawwassen United Church, Thursday, November 2, at 1:30 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined.
