CRTC Call for Applications for New Vancouver Radio Stations

Postby jon » Mon Jun 29, 2015 5:08 pm

Lots of details here: http://crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2015/2015-288.htm

The document is quick to mention that this is separate from the awarding of 106.3 MHz as part of the "replacement" for AVR (CKAV-FM).

The CRTC currently has applications for 600KHz from Sher-E-Punjab, and for a CKYE-FM repeater in Surrey, and is saying, essentially, that now is the time to apply if you want a station in Greater Vancouver.
the Commission’s preliminary view is that the Vancouver market would best be served by proposals targeting the ethnic communities. However, it does not preclude any other types of applications.
