CKNW shutters its sports department

Postby kal » Tue Jul 28, 2015 6:26 pm

That's it. What would Al Davidson have to say? Dave Sheldon and Bob Addison were wiped from the 'NW lineup today, closing another chapter in the success story that was once the Top Dog.

Sheldon confirmed the situation via Twitter this afternoon:

Pretty interesting day. Thanks to all of my friends @cknw and @Rock101Van for four super years. Onward!

There was no word from Addison, an encyclopedic sports reporter if ever there was one.

It was only a matter of time.

Anyone remember when NW was THE News, Talk and Sports leader?

It wasn't that long ago.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Big Al would probably have told Sheldon to speak clearly long ago.

No matter the skills of people involved in these layoffs at the end of the day these are members of families with all the usual responsibilities that go with families.

Big Al wouldn't have hired someone as challenged as Sheldon.

I'm sure Mr. Addison is wishing he'd stayed at News 1130 rather than returning to the Dead Dog.
