NEWS 1130 has an opening for an evening/weekend anchor/reporter. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of full-time employment when the contract ends. Reporting to the Managing Editor-Weekends at our Vancouver location, as the successful candidate, you will:

Responsibilities:

Thrive in a fast-paced, high stress environment
Generate story ideas and contacts and respond to breaking news situations quickly and accurately
Generate written content for news1130.com with impeccable spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
Anchor newscasts in an accurate, credible, and entertaining way
Be fluent in social media trends with a personal Twitter account and the knowledge to use it to generate stories and ideas for NEWS 1130
Have a desire to learn other roles at NEWS 1130
Work a standard 5pm-12am shift Saturday to Wednesday and be available to work other day-parts, weekends, and holidays with reasonable notice from NEWS 1130 management
Qualifications:

Have at least two years’ experience in news broadcasting (experience in the Vancouver market an asset but not a requirement)
Be a graduate of an accredited Broadcast or Journalism program (knowledge of the Burli newsroom system an asset but not a requirement)
Have a valid driver's license
Schedule: Full Time
Shift: Variable
Length of Contract: 12 Months
