CKNW 'reprimanded'

Postby flyonthewall » Wed Oct 26, 2016 3:57 pm

The Giant 98 got its wrist slapped in a tweet from IHIT today.

@HomicideTeam
It's very rare that we call the media out on damaging reporting but for @CKNW to post photos of dismembered body parts is #classless !!!

Kinda confirms my long held suspicion that they are channeling the National Enquirer.

You don't suppose the posting had anything to do with an inexperienced editor or reporter wanting to get the item posted before the competition beat them to it? Lack of experience shows up in the least expected places.

More like incompetent management with no control. A fish rots from the head down you know.

Has anyone actually seen the problematic tweet. I couldn't find it.

BTW, wonder of wonders, CKNW actually ran an hour of open line on its Steele and Drex show this afternoon. Imagine that, callers on talk radio. One of the hosts said it went so well the station might do it again in a month or so.

That of course I understand. I'm looking in cached content from both the station and from the reporter who appears to have been handling the file.

If the program consultants running NW out of Toronto were smart (and I have to wonder about that), they'd do open line on a daily basis, like it used to be when the locals were truly running the show.

Doing open-line shows requires a clever, intuitive "screener" -- another unnecessary expense.
Grrrr. :salute:

On the NW drive show the phone lines are ALWAYS open. We take calls on almost every topic we chat about in the afternoon, We started doing that when I joined the show in July.
Yesterday we wanted to do a whole hour of calls in the 4pm hour as a chance for the audience to vent about anything they wanted. One even vented about CKNW, which was great, you guys would have loved it!

The callers we get on a daily basis are great, and fuel some great discussion & arguments. So if you ever call in on a weekday between 2 and 6pm the call will ALWAYS be answered. as for the other day-parts?
it's up to those hosts and their producers to make that happen, but for us it's something that's an integral part of our show.

cheers,
Drex

I'm more than comfortable with the fact I have a slight stutter, it was much worse as a child.

Slight? If you didn't stammer and stutter so much the 2-6 show would be over in 90 minutes.
Hope this is helpful for you, the tone in which it is meant.
You are on CKNW!
