Christmas Music arrives in Western Canada

Postby radiofan » Fri Nov 25, 2016 4:03 pm

It's a month til Christmas Day and Vancouver has two station into Christmas mode ... 650 CISL flipped at midnight. Vancouver's perennial Christmas Music station, QM-FM 103.5 flipped at 8AM today.

Edmonton's Capital 96.3 and Fresh 92.5 flipped to all Christmas in the past couple of weeks.

No sign of anybody in Calgary making the move yet.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

The Point...aka CKPM Port
Moody... has already been spicing up the playlist with a few Christmas songs for a while now .... for anyone listening.

Not the usual worn run-of-the-mill ones either!

Too bad their signal is poor in some areas of the Tri-cities.

I was DX'ing a couple of nights ago and heard what sounded like a religious hymn, which caught my interest, as there were not any likely catches - stations with a religious format on that frequency that were even remotely possible to hear at night.

Then I listened more carefully and realized that it was a Christmas hymn. Likely, AC-formatted 92.5 Kootenai FM, which is now simulcast on KVNI-AM in the Spokane area.

Kinda forgot what time of year is approaching.
