CKNW Gets Creative To Avoid Repeating News Stories...

Postby PicturesForYourEars » Thu Feb 09, 2017 1:34 am

A thread a few weeks ago (can't locate it now sorry) called out newsrooms for becoming stale and not rewriting newscasts.

Well -

The Giant 98 must read Radio West because recently they came up with an innovative way to cut down on their news repetition.

At least in the middle of the night.

Listening to Coast To Coast BEFORE midnight one will hear George Noory time to the bottom of the hour.
There is a 3.5 minute newscast,
some commercials,
followed by a cut-in from George,
followed by another lengthy cluster of spots.

AFTER midnight?

George times to the bottom of the hour.
The newscasts have been ELIMINATED.
Totally.
Completely.
Gone!

Factoring in Noory's quick cut-in to promote his numbers and his commercial ventures, CKNW now runs advertising for...

NINE STRAIGHT MINUTES.

STAYED PLACES I SHOULDA LEFT...
