TSN gonna be in tough against Sportsnet. Pratt & Jake offer little sports knowledge. Mike & Jason are hockey guys. The Moj is a very good football guy & and Donnie well does not bring much sports depth. Matt& Blake are the best all around sports guys in town but they draw up against Rintoul and pre game stuff. Will they hold game day listeners? I doubt it.

BMac been in this sports market along time and his sports historical knowledge is second to none. I hope he is not lost in all these changes.

The word "continues" stood out for me. Extra 30 minutes make it no more listenable than before. It is hard to maintain interest while listening to the commercials when they get interrupted by sports talk.

I stopped listening to the morning show because of the number of ads. I bet you anything that the hosts get to work an extra half an hour without a penny more dough while the station gets more prime inventory. Pity the unsophisticated advertiser that buys the "morning show" and has their spot air at 5:31am. A lot of how the battle with 650 is going to shape up depends on if the Canucks continue to stink. If they do advantage 1040 since they will be able to pile on unlike house radio. Plus if there's a way to screw up a radio station Rogers will find it.

I am not sure as people gravitate towards Canucks news whether they do well or not. If they do well its the usual excitement and if they do not do well then its trade talk, who should be traded talk, who should be sent to the minors talk, who should be brought up from the minors talk, tanking, who they can get in the draft, management firings etc etc. A lot of these topics are enhanced by having access to the team and that would give the advantage to Rogers.

Rogers should try to get more females tuning in if possible as the TSN radio female numbers are abysmal with the station not seeming to care. Might be a challenge but there should be an effort to attract females with more creative strategies than just putting a woman on the air.

Women aren't a sports station's demo. Who cares.

Shouldn't a Sports Station have the same demographic targets as the average population in the stands for a hockey or football game?

You can try to believe that in game promos are equal but they skew heavily to male because they know that's who attends the games and that's who spends money. That's who gets liquored up and makes bad decisions with there money.

Why doesn't the W Channel cater to more men?

The idea that sports radio should cater more to women is ridiculous. It is.

Both stations are underwhelming to say the least. In January, one was laying people off because presumably, Toronto didn't like the bottom line. 6 months later, the roster is expanded and everyone is re-upped.

The most perplexing of all is the Kurtenbloggers. Two guys who sound exactly the same, and have the same goofy not funny sense of humour. If there was even just some intelligent insight, one might understand that one. I don't. That's the state of our business.

Bottom line 2 mediocre products talking about the same things over a 2 share. This won't end well for anyone.

Anything is better than ESPN programming piped in from Yankee land. Who the hell wants to listen to Dan Patrick and Jim Rome. Might as well listen to Christy Crooked and Charles Adler, shamelessly trying to suck the audience's collective cocks. :violent1:

And let's not dwell on the anemic signals, at least here in Victoria.

Even during daylight savings time, 650 weakens while the sun still shines. 1040 has a slightly stronger daytime signal, but almost vanishes at night. I woke up early the other day and could barely hear Bro and Pratt. Meanwhile, KOH 780 boomed in from Reno, Nevada with the deep baitone commentary of Ross Mitchell. Go figure.

I just pray CFAX will still carry Canucks games.

1040's night pattern should serve Victoria well. Its day pattern has to protect Port Angeles listeners who want to listen to 1050 Seattle.

1050 was originally licensed as a Daytimer, which is why there is no protection "across the U.S. border" for them at night.

As mentioned elsewhere, Sunset pattern change is scheduled for closest quarter hour to Sunset on the 15th of the current month, at the CKST transmitter site.
