Ah, these engineer/announcers, they never quit. Nor should they. Interesting reading, even though I have no idea about equipment

And to the right of the cart recorder is an AMPEX 600. There is another reel to reel to the right of it.

I'm wondering about the actual cartridge,rather than the playback device. Where is it ? Certainly not in the machine.Where was the cart -rack/ carousel ,and I'm curious about those cartridge specs too..Damn,it's a coooool shot of old school radio.

Look to the left, below were the records are laid out. There is a cartridge rack in the panel. Eventually, there was a cartridge rack mounted on the wall. The studio was still being fitted out when the photo was taken.

Thanks again Gerry. Those look like Fildelipacs.Ugly grey little creations that you just KNEW would eventually meltdown and jam,usually during a break-song like "El Paso",but I think they stored up to ten minutes worth of material.That much tape..a radio bomb waiting to go off. ;-)
