CKOK wrecked by a ball

A look back at various radio stations

CKOK wrecked by a ball

Postby Jack Bennest » Fri Dec 07, 2012 10:23 am

The building that housed two radio stations in Penticton has been demolished by the wrecking ball.

Both CKOK in the fifties and CIGV in the eighties to the present utilized the Nanaimo Street location. Both stations and successors
have moved out.

Merry Christmas from all ex CKOK staffers

I remember helping in the construction of the "new" CKOK building in the '60s when CKOV Chief Engineer Art Vipond and I went down from Kelowna on several occasions to help with equipment installation and testing.
Is that building still in use as a radio station?
It was state of the art back then.

Google maps street view will find it at 33 Carmi Avenue, Penticton

The only thing that is changed is the plastic panel in the sign out front.
