Postby Tape Splicer » Tue Dec 03, 2013 4:00 pm

I came across these three items on YouTube featuring early radio in the state of Ohio... The film is divided into three parts...the last part ends abruptly before a natural ending point. I checked the "Ohio Film " web page and these three parts are the only threads available . So here is a historical look at Ohio radio in the 1930s...enjoy.

Along with each link is a brief description of the contents of the film segment.

I looked on the NFB web site and found this film "Canada Calling" from 1949 dealing with radio in Canada. I'll quote the nFB Description along with the link.
Canada Calling
Synopsis
This short documentary from 1949 looks at the state of radio in Canada. Focusing on the CBC, it illustrates the variety of radio fare available at the time by featuring snatches of favourite programs, including Trio Lyrique, Mart Kenney, the Toronto Symphony, the Happy Gang, forums, religious programs, drama and old-time music. Several key people involved in the business of broadcasting are introduced, as is the CBC International Service.

Here is an NfB film titled Headline Hunters ....(These notes are from the nFB web page).
Synopsis
This short film from 1945 demonstrates how broadcasters and journalists relayed war news back to Canada. It includes glimpses of the complex organization behind them - the military PR directors, the censors, dispatch riders, engineers and the Canadian Press and British United Press offices.

adds Broadcasting's Forgotten Father; Charles Herrold

Postby Tape Splicer » Tue Dec 03, 2013 11:33 pm

This is interesting stuff....

This is the 1995 PBS Documentary, "Broadcasting's Forgotten Father, the Charles Herrold Story." It was written, produced, directed and narrated by Mike Adams. Mike's film students at San Jose State University participated in the production. The 1909 Herrold station became KQW and today it is KCBS in San Francisco, now over 100 years old.
