Black flags

Mike Cleaver mentioned a black flag on Arnie Nelson's story. It reminded me of being in Montreal with CKGM.....I was a roving reporter, sponsored by Rothmans ciggies. My mike had a Rothmans sign above and CKGM below it.....I was despised by every other legit reporter who had simple radio station call letters on their mikes. It was, indeed, a pain in the butt. Jean Drapeau of all people, asked me to remove my mike at a news conference....he said he'd talk to me later...AFTER others had sent their reports. The only consolation was, I had cartons of cigs to pass out to those who gave me stories, and for me to use too. That went on for something like five or six years. Wilmot Tennyson,, the pres. of Rothmans was so easy to get along with!!
