CKWX & CJOR MOVE

A look back at various radio stations

Postby cart_machine » Wed Sep 13, 2006 2:06 am

Saturday, April 22, 1933 saw Vancouver?s radio stations move on the dial. This happened about the time CNRV became CRCV. CJOR has been at 1200, CRCV at 1100 and the rest of Vancouver?s stations at 730. CHWK was assigned 780, but the papers don?t provide programme listings. :(

As a public service, and through the archives of the Vancouver Sun and Province and Victoria Colonist, let us re-live that programming-change day. I've also included big independent KJR and the U.S networks (there had been two west coast NBC networks in 1933 - Orange and Gold. Gold died a month prior to these listings so KPO is listed on its own. The Red and Blue networks didn't reach the Western U.S. until 1936).
