Terry Avalos

Postby cart_machine » Wed Apr 23, 2014 1:50 am

Since the other grumpy old guys here are yapping away about grumpy-type stuff, allow me to express my sorrow that Terry Avalos, who provided traffic reports at CKWX and CKNW, and worked for a time at CISQ, passed away earlier this week.

Terry had pancreatic cancer but dealt with a number of health problems for a number of years.

He left radio about five years ago.

Terry was always open about his sexuality which, I hope, was an example to young broadcasters that they needn't hide who they are. (He probably would have fit in with our little gang at the Media Club 30 years ago, Mr T. Dog).

My condolences go out to his husband Ivan.

Farewell, Traffic Bear.

cArtie.

Younger than me

Younger than you

??

Didn't know Terry and as one grump to another - it has been a long long time

I live in a different world now - but have established my journalistic credentials again in the Penticton/Okanagan news market - I am a senior reporter or is that a reporter that is a senior

Sorry to hear about Traffic Bear

See quote above.

Terry had not been in good health for a number of years, even at CKWX. His battle is really very inspirational as he did his best to keep his spirits up.

He was an affable man and always pleasant.
