Sad news this morning. An old radio buddy BERT GORDON signed off this morning.

Herbert (Bert) John Fowell July 27, 1945 - July 13, 2016

Today was his day to spread his well earned wings and soar to his next adventure, finally free of pain forever.

He passed away peacefully this morning at 6:42 a.m. At his request there will be no service and his ashes will be placed in the Fowell family plot at the Minnewawa Cemetery near Nesbitt Manitoba where he grew up.

He was forever thankful that he was adopted by the Fowells (Gordon & Verda) in Nesbitt Manitoba as a young boy and had a wonderful life growing up on the farm. We will be writing a story soon that best describes his life adventures to be published in the Brandon Sun and the Winnipeg Free Press.

Brockie-Donovan (Brandon) is in charge of arrangements.

Bert worked at CFOX Vancouver for several years in the late 1970's, early 1980's. After CFOX, he spent a couple of years doing weekends and fill-in at CKNW and CFMI. The late 1980's found him at STAR-FM
in Chilliwack. In the early 2000's he was at Winnipeg's CFST (Starlight 1290).

Another great guy that was a plesure to work with gone too soon. RIP Bert.

Did Bert create what became The Electric Lunch on CFOX as "Bert's Bar & Grill"?

Great set of pipes and a great guy.

I was reminded this afternoon about NW's Scottish afternoon receptionist in the early 1980's. Anytime Evelyn would page Bert, it came out as "Bart Garden, call on 501" ...
