a post on sound bites from radiofan

Raccoon Carney graced the Vancouver airwaves at both C-FUN and CKLG from the mid 70's into the early 80's. Today he handles PM Drive at CHUM owned CFRW 1290 in Winnipeg.

In case you've forgotten what Raccoon sounded like on air, here he is from 1977 doing 9 - Mid on CKLG. This aircheck is from The Aircheck Factory's Around The Dial #20 from May 1978. Enjoy! Raccoon Aircheck

PS Rac ... We'd love to post your first day at CKLG. Do you have a copy you can share??

I worry about Sparky. Doesn't he ever get spaghetti sauce on his tie and have to change it? But, whenever he posts, he is always wearing the same tie.

Don't waste your time worrying about my tie, I only wear it on special occasions.

I'd be more worried about TD. I seem to recall seeing pics of him at Radio West functions and he seems to wear more beer and food on his shirts than he consumes.

As for my 300 points, here's a few titles.

Sylvia's Mother
Only 16
Cover Of The Rolling Stone

Just out of interest, what kind of points are you awarding? Air Miles? Save-On More points? Canadian Tire money?

OK, I'll spend my time worrying about that second picture of Racoon with his animal look-alike. I can only hope it was from a Taxidermist. Otherwise, I envision him visiting the local dump to find the critter. And would hate to guess what infectious substances were picked up there and are being transferred from fur to hair.

Now you have done it jon - sparky lost his tie

I said points - like shaving points

If I were awarding money to Mike Cherry it would be Monopoly cash
as CTire money is way to valuable.

Top Dog sez:

Sparky - don't bother waiting for the prize patrol to show up...it's all a scam but I've reported this to the CRTC who I KNOW will take swift action to stop these bogus contests on Radiowest...after all isn't that part of their mandate?

(Ahem) Mr T Dog: keep your Monopoly money, bud...out here in the Goofy Islands we have what are called 'Salt Spring Dollars'. Neither your Monopoly money nor your CTire money are legal tender here, sir. I think at last count there were over 40 establishments & artisans here that accept/hand out SS Dollars when requested and the local Credit Union allows us to set up 'SS Dollar' accounts. Rumour has it, this local currency is a tradable commodity amongst some of you North Americans 8-)
