Obituary published (Sun and Province) this (Friday) morning:

Mike Halleran, passed away in Nelson on July 4th at the age of 73.

Mike was (my) News Director at CJOR in 1964-65. His previous experience included working in news for CKCQ in Quesnel in the early 60’s. He left radio in the late 60’s and became, arguably, famous for developing, producing and hosting the award-winning environmental/outdoors television series “Westland” (later taken over by his son, Terry) which has aired for about 25 seasons, primarily on The Knowledge Network.

Mike (personally) and “Westland” were honored by the BC Association of Professional Foresters in 2004.
