Exact Change Please. The Rock N Bus SIte.

Postby BossRadio » Mon May 03, 2010 11:25 am

BIg wheels keep on rolling! Here's a look back to a late 90's page, an obvious labor of love.

Too bad it hasn't been kept up, there are numerous changes and RIPs since it's publication, but maybe if someone would. contact it's owner and let him know about this site ?

Arthurdent would be our go-to guy on radio and bus combos but he seems to be MIA...

Anyway, a nifty look back which might answer a few of those "where the heck are/were they now" and "will I ever see that 20 bucks I lent him" questions you might have.

Oh Yeah.

At the time, I got the impression that the arrival of VancouverBroadcasters.com on to the scene more or less eliminated any interest in updating by the originators of Rocknbus.

Considering it shows Doc Harris still at NW, Fred at KISS and Monty still alive, it's been awhile since anyone's done any house-keeping.

Yes, it hasn't changed since I contacted them in 1997 and offered to help out. ...I'm still awaiting a response.

Maybe it's because you haven't upgraded to Netscape 2, like they suggest.

And let them know their Magellan search engine is down.

I tried to track it through the whois and just get a host company - who is :karate: m.r. roberts?
The site talks to 2000 - I amost do not remember that year.
If you think of what has been uploaded in ten years on the various sites and boards.

Wow is that far out man :nonono:

There is another guy out there in the ether who collects material on Burns and Cullen as well.

The Rock n bus site is operated by Bill Roberts, a driver for ISL (International Stage Lines).
He's a guy that thoroughly enjoyed the Vancouver rock stations & personalities of long ago.
I see him rarely on the ferry to Victoria & sent him an email about the interest in his site.

Tell him we would like him to be our special guest at next RPM on one condition - take the web site down.

Believe it or not I had a similar problem with an arts council website put up by someone unnamed at this point.
To close the old and unofficial site I had to find out who put it up etc and get the codes before anything could be
done. One of the risks of the free websites that were offered years ago.

Too bad he didn't keep it up. At the time, not a lot of info was out there about our fave DJ's & announcers from those days and their whereabouts these days.
I guess he just lost interest in it & figured that it would dissolve on its own.
