It is just after 1:30pm on Monday, May 2nd, 2011.
I have just returned home after two weeks in VGH after being admitted early Tuesday morning, April 19th with severe foot pain that would not allow me to stand or walk.
I reached Emergency at VGH at 7:30pm on Monday, April 18th.
At 6am Tuesday, the 19th, I was being taken upstairs to the 7th floor Ortho unit when I had a heart attack in the elevator.
My lungs started filling with fluid and I had a tightness across my chest.
I bellowed "I NEED HELP!" and the Crash Team was there instantly, giving me another chance at life.
Over the past two weeks, I've been in the CCU, Meds, Otho and other units under the excellent care of those fabulous people who work every day to save people's lives.
One of my CCU nurses just happens to be the lovely wife of a long time radio friend.
My long time life partner was with me through the entire ordeal and I love him more than words can ever tell.
I've had two weeks to reflect on life and what's important and what doesn't matter.
I treasure my family, my many friends and acquaintances both in and out of the broadcast and broadcast education fields.
It's not often we get to start over again.
My new life begins today.
