REVOLVING DOOR:

Rahim Ladhani is returning to CTV Winnipeg to co-host CTV Morning Live after working as an anchor and reporter at CTV News Calgary since leaving Winnipeg in Feb. 2015. He replaces Kris Laudien who departed for Global News Calgary in October. Laudien had been with CTV Winnipeg for four years.

Sabrina Carnevale, 99.9 BOB FM (CFWM-FM) Winnipeg and TSN 1290 (CFRW-AM) traffic reporter and announcer, is leaving Bell Media to do afternoon traffic on CBC Radio One. Carnevale will also report on community events.

Jason Shanofer, broadcast engineer at 102.3 NOW! (CKNO-FM) and Up! 99.3 (CIUP-FM) Edmonton, has taken a career turn and assumed the promotions director/operations manager role at the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group stations. Succeeding Shanofer as broadcast engineer is Tyler Godsman who had been with Harvard’s X92.9 (CFEX-FM) Calgary for the past three years.

Darren Robson is the new program director at The Wolf 104.9 (CFWF-FM) and My 92.1 (CHMX-FM) in Regina. After two years in the role, Tim Schutz has resigned for personal reasons. Robson was most recently PD with Rawlco’s JACK-FM (CKCK-FM) Regina. He programmed Rogers’ Country 93.3 (CJOK-FM) and 97.9 ROCK (CKYX-FM) Fort McMurray, as well as worked for SparkNet Communications Vancouver.

SIGN-OFFS:

Kenneth Haslam, Nov. 17, in Warkworth, ON. Remembered by his colleagues as the CBC “language god” who would rap broadcasters’ knuckles for bad grammar, Haslam began his radio career with CBC at age 19 in his hometown of Montréal. In 1953, he joined the English Language Division of Radio Nederland in Hilversum, the Netherlands, as a news reader. He eventually returned to CBC Toronto where he was a familiar staple on both the network news desk and the original host of the long-running show “Ideas,” which began airing in 1965. A passionate fan of jazz and the classics, Ken also took a turn at hosting “Afternoon Concert” and “Symphony Hall.” As Broadcast Language Counsellor in Toronto, he coached other CBC news readers and broadcasters on proper pronunciation and other presentation errors that left a lasting legacy beyond his retirement from the public broadcaster in 1990.
