Stern and Sirius Internet

Ten months after leaving the commercial airwaves for subscription-based Sirius Satellite Radio, shock jock Howard Stern is out to attract a broad new online audience with his first-ever free Internet broadcast.

Stern's four-hour-plus program will be made available live online at no charge for two days, October 25 and 26, to promote an Internet radio service Sirius is launching this week. A formal announcement was planned for Monday morning.

The new service offers more than 75 channels of CD-quality programming over the Internet--without the need to buy a Sirius satellite receiver--for a monthly subscription fee of $12.95, the company said in a press release.

The service can be accessed by logging on to the Sirius Web site.

The two-day free trial of "The Howard Stern Show" marks the first time he has been available to a nonpaying audience since he left terrestrial FM radio in December 2005.

whoopie, a whole two days of Stern, at his swearing best, I'll bet. I could be as obnoxious as that twit, and so could you all, if you wished.

Psyches - First Wally Buono is an idiot and now Howard Stern is a twit.

Good news John.

We just received an email from Howard's people.

After reading your comments on this board regarding his satellite broadcast, Howard has apparently decided to throw in the towel, get out of radio and move to Guam to teach Sunday school.

"I can't continue with what I'm doing without the approval of John Sykes in Abbotsford," Stern told a packed news conference earlier today.

Congratulations John, it looks like one man's opinion can make a difference!

This Sykes character is probably the one who complained to the CBSC about Tom Leykis on Mojo a few years ago.

He seems to be the type of person who gets his shorts in a knot about anything he doesn't agree with and then mouths off about it as if he is an expert.

If I recall he recently mentioned in a post that he lost all respect for a former CJOR talk show host that he assumed was trying to buy some grass from a fellow employee. Another case of some ignorant old fool who doesn't know what the hell he is talking about, and naming names to boot.

Stick to playing solitaire til dawn with a deck of 51 you has been that never really was.

I'm with Sykes. I give Stern credit for making loadsa dough and being successful as a businessman but his show is boring. He's doing radio porn and it doesn't take much talent to do porn. I also think it's a sign of desperation that they are trying to suck people into subscribing on the net. Since Stern went on the air the value of Sirius stock has gone down by 50%.
So yeah, two days of "free" Stern on the net...who cares.

Sparky....stick it where the sun doesn't shine. It wasn't an assumption on my part re the attempted grass purchase....it was plain, out and out offering to purchase.
I am not a bitter old man, not by a long shot. I respect people who make money the hard way, the honest way...not by plying porn the way Stern has done it.

By the way, since you all seemed to hate the crap I was writing for the Sports Digest....and I resigned from same......do I see any of you taking up the gauntlet? no....you'd rather shout down others than be someone willing to offer an opinion we may dislike. Go ahead you chickens....I dare you.

Vanman....actually I do see a difference. Being a member of the Abbotsford Police Citizens Patrol, I see the lowlifes trying to sell the toughter shit to kids....the hookers trying to sell themselves, them being hooked on drugs, you name it. Anytime I can talk someone out of taking step one toward step two, then I'm going for it. If any of you want to mess with the tougher stuff like coke and the rest.....you don't have my sympathy at all....the only winner is the dealer and the importer....and they'll be nailed eventually.

I couldn't give a damn if you dislike my writings.......I won my awards in radio....and I'm happy as hell I'm out of the rat race. I wish you all well

Vanman....fewer stations? maybe...but those fewer stations offered better talent than you all offer today. Sad.

Respond if you wish...I won't.

Get on with something else. Your responses match your avitar

Hey vanman if you want to get into personal insults take a look in the avatar. You look like a freaking retard. Second try and read my posts and respond to what I've written and not make stupid assumptions. I never said anything about the merits of satellite radio other than if you had invested your dough in Sirius a year ago you would have lost half of it. What do you think about Stern? Do you think he is a great broadcaster? Your Costco analogy makes my point. I was there on Sunday and the only samples being handed out were by mickey mouse outfits no one has ever heard of.
