Happy Retirement Sandclan

Happy first full day of retirement Steve!

Our friend sandclan said goodbye to his friends at the Federal Government after 30 plus years yesterday.

In a few days, Mrs. Sandclan will likely present you with the "To-Do" list!

Have fun.

Congrats Sandclan. I hope the rigmarole involved with the transition from paycheck to pension check goes well for you. Things went fairly smooth for me this past January, but I've heard horror stories from other retired federal employees. Make a copy of all the documents you submit as they tend to misplace things.

In the meantime I heard rumours that you will be setting up shop in this place during the daytime when Mrs. Sandclan is at work:

Any truth? Rather pricy place.

Yes, welcome to the club!
I pulled the pin on "working for the corpse" in 2007 and have been doing things on my own since then, a semi-retirement, I guess.
But it's great to be able to call the shots, work for people whom you actually like and respect and tell others to "**** off."
Also, it's great to be able to set your own hours and not be tied down by a schedule.
And getting up at 3am is a thing of the past.
The earliest I ever wake up now is 6am if a client from the east calls.
Enjoy the freedom!

Thank-you Ted, Dan,( Is that the old Cloverdale Hotel?? ) Firedog, and Mike!
I hope to live for as many years as I had worked for. I completed 35 years in the end of June, and that's
long enough for anybody!!
No plans other than doing a lot of traveling and spending some of my hard earned cash!
( Or should that be " doing some traveling and spending a lot of my hard earned cash!" )
Thanks again!

Yes, I echo the "Happy Retirement!" wishes.

But one word of warning. There is a rumour going around that West Edmonton Mall is one of your first retirement stops.

Yesterday, I found out the hard way that the nearby River Cree Casino and Resort has moved their $1.99 breakfast buffet (still 9-11am Tuesdays and Thursdays) to their Kitchen Bistro venue, where the other, more complete, buffets are held. The end result is that, when I arrived at 10:20 a.m., it was a one hour wait for a table no matter which buffet you want. Needless to say, I didn't stick around.

Thanks Jon!
It seems to me you are trying to get out of that breakfast you promised me!!?
I will be in Edmonton around the end of August.
I hope to see you then.

I don't quite know how to react to the warning of boredom Steve, but I can relate my own personal experience to you. Even though I officially retired this January I have actually been off the job since March/08 due to medical issues. That's almost 1 1/2 years now and so far I haven't felt the slightest inkling of boredom. Of course everyone is different, but I am really enjoying retirement and consider it to be the wisest decision I ever made in my life. Eventually I'll probably look for a part time job to supplement the pension, but for now I'm still in "lazy mode". Enjoy your new life Steve.....you certainly deserve it.

Sandyman, that's why he's the business editor. Probably has the first nickel he ever earned. And working for Rogers, that's probably what he got paid...but I digress.
Congratulations on your retirement. Sit back and relax, enjoy.

You and Russ heading south of the southern border? Is this a retirement plan? Like that Canadian Senator who ended up down there somewhere??
