Yes, it is hard to remember just how bleak evenings were on almost all B.C. radio stations outside of the Lower Mainland back then.
Even when I arrived at CJAT in Trail in 1972, there were no commercials paid or played after 6 p.m. on either the AM or FM stations.
But I have to hand it to CJAT management of the time (pre-CKEK purchasing them): they were Top 40 straight through 6:00 pm - 1:10 am, just like the rest of the day. Only exception was a short piece of CBC programming late on Sunday night. And The World at Six (and Stanley Cup hockey games). The FM side was used to fulfill the other CBC programming requirements Sunday evening.
