January 1st was a big day in history for CKWX Vancouver:
In 1940, Harold Carson moved to Vancouver from Calgary to take over the operation of CKWX; Sparks Holstead was still the station owner.
In 1954, the station began 24 hour broadcasting with an overnight program "Concert Under the Stars".
In 1958 at midnight, Red Robinson, Bill Davis and Bob McGavin began 100 hours of continuous broadcasting from the Pacific National Exhibition studio to celebrate British Columbia's Centennial year.
