Vancouver "Top Forty" Radio

Vancouver "Top Forty" Radio was launched on November 27, 2005. The website's purpose is to post every hit parade survey from Vancouver's "Top Forty" stations from the fifties and sixties. The site will initially include surveys from CKWX (1958-1962), C-FUN (1959-1967), and CKLG (1964-1970). Others from the 70s & 80s, namely CKLG and CKVN may eventually be included in a later phase.

For the most part, I am not posting scans. Rather, each survey is being re-typed one by one, and re-formatted for web viewing. At present I have access to over 1000 photocopied surveys.

Presently posted on the site are:

- CKWX - 1958 - All surveys from Sept 8 to end of year.
- CKWX - 1959 - All surveys except for three which I'm still seeking.
- CKWX - 1960 - The complete year.

- C-FUN - 1959 - Some of Dave McCormick's orignal home-typed surveys.
- C-FUN - 1960 - All the "official" surveys for that year.
- C-FUN - 1962 - The Complete Year.
- C-FUN - The Soundathons. Numbers 1, 2 and 3 now posted with more to come.

Soon to be added:
- CKWX - 1961 - The compelte year.
- C-FUN - 1961 - The complete year.

More will follow.


Each Station has an Index page for each year, and on each index page you'll find added extras, including a few scans of original surveys, and short audio clips, including jingles.


Surveys still wanted!

I am currently focusing all my efforts on material from the fifties and early sixties, due to the increasing difficuly in finding surveys from this era. Two specific areas of immediate interest include CKWX from 1957 and 1958 and more of Dave McCormick's home-typed surveys for C-FUN. If you have any surveys or have any other information or memories of this era that you think might be useful please contact me.

Eventually I will get to the later years, including CKLG and CKVN, but have set this aside for the time being to focus my efforts on the earlier years as already mentioned above.
