To this conclusion - there are a TON of nice people in our Industry now and just as there was 'then'. Now - it's different.
Let you pick up the ball from here. But I don't think I worked with more than a teeny few folks I wouldn't be happy to call 'friends'.
I met some INCREDIBLE people.
Lucky is not the word.
Man, when I think of the talent, alone, and the lack of EGO>>>> wow.
One or two regulars here are demi gods in my Pantheon....but the hardest worked of that Pantheon would I could point to as an example of a PROFESSIONAL and a true gentleman and that would be the man with the initials NS.
Now, kids - if you didn't get to hear how a PREPARED show sounded 'effortless' - you should try a few of this dudes air checks.
My Favourite technique was CLEAN, TOP 40, ROCK JOCK Radio. No soliloquies - no bad punch lines. Easier said than done.
NS - le mastro.
I salute him and so many others.
Darryl B. would be a master class teacher, Lan Roberts. Pat O'Day. Fred. Frosty.Red. Too Loud. The Bear. Robson. Dean and Hatchie. Bet you know a lot more. Bill Reiter....*anyone not like this terrific cat? Terry Reid Hubbard...I could go on, but list grows shorter.
