From the RadioWest archives, here's the launch of Calgary's AM 106 on September 10, 1984 .. The launch was voiced by then PD Don Stevens
and the first AM 106 Morning Guy was Steve Woodman a year or two before he beame Jesse Dylan. You'll also hear Marianna Jaromi doing
traffic ... a few years later she was teamed up with Terry Reid at Vancouver's 97 Kiss FM and then QM-FM.

The personalities weren't all that vibrant on the air yet...you can still hear that 'CFCN' tone. I love how they annunciate 'A-M'.

I recall always being impressed by that station's remarkably open-sounding processing. It sounded so naturally "unprocessed" you could readily forget you were even listening to a radio broadcast. No over-modulated, sledge-hammer impact, brick-wall sound levels for their PD and engineers! Perhaps that too lingered from the CFCN days.
