A familiar voice will be back on the air this month.
New Talk 770 announced Tuesday Dave Taylor, who was previously the afternoon host at the station for nearly 10 years, will return to the 12:30-4 p.m. slot starting Aug. 19.
Taylor, who recently spent eight years as a Calgary MLA, said his new assignment "is going to be fun."
"Although it’s been nearly a decade since I’ve done this full time, this place, this radio station feels like home,” he said.
Part of Taylor's timeslot will include co-hosting the 3-4 p.m. hour with current drive host Angela Kokott.
“To find someone with the political acumen that Dave has, coupled with his colourful and smart sense of the world is a rare find,” according to Garry McKenzie, General manager of Corus Radio Calgary.
“Dave has a great sense of this city and is yet another asset as we build a fresh, new approach to talk radio in Calgary."
McKenzie says Charles Adler will be refocusing his show to a Winnipeg-only program.
“Having Charles as part of our afternoons in Calgary has been a great run and we know he will be a leader in the Winnipeg radio market with his new show,” McKenzie said.
Taylor was one of 16 Liberals elected in a 2004 provincial election that saw an upswing in Grit support and a less-than-stellar Tory majority.
Taylor unseated incumbent Jon Lord in Calgary Currie.
He ran for the leadership vacated by Kevin Taft following a disappointing 2008 election, but lost out to David Swann.
He left the party to sit as an independent in 2010, unhappy with Swann's leadership, later joining with the fledgling Alberta Party.
Despite being its only sitting MLA, Taylor announced he would not be running in the 2012 election.
He was succeeded in Currie by Tory Christine Cusanelli.
