From an outsider's perspective, if this happens, the date will be very telling. Head Office will have chosen the day if it is Boxing Day. Local management will have had some major input if it happens around New Years. That given my observation that Edmonton All Christmas music generally goes to New Years.

I get a strange feeling of Deja Vu about this. In terms of the huge time gap from when JOE-FM changed format until now. Reminds me of the time gap between the death of Easy Rock and debut of Lite.

The problem in both cases is that you lose a lot of potential listeners who have found another home in the meantime. UP actually did billboard and busboard advertising campaigns to try and attract Easy Rock and JOE listeners when each disappeared from the airwaves.

This solves the mystery of the Blind Box ad on Milky the past couple of weeks.

Didn't Wired in Saskatoon flip to Cruz FM on Boxing Day last year?

If Cruz is done right, it could take a nice bite out of Capital and Up and finally give Harvard some success with 95.7.

Remember this from the official launch of Lite?
Husband and wife morning personalities Jamie O’Connell and Dan Hunt [ formerly on UP 99.3 ] will brighten up Lite mornings with fun, entertainment and the most music from 6am-10am

Well, the dynamic duo is now nowhere to be found on the Lite web site. And both of their Facebook pages list no current employer, but Harvard/Lite as their previous employer.

 Well, 9:57 a.m. went by, and still no format change on 95.7 MHz. They even have an announcer doing a remote at West Edmonton Mall talking to the Boxing Day Sale customers.

Breaking News Flash: as I write this, I just checked lite957.ca and the site is gone! In its place: "There is still one more present under the tree ... coming soon!"

Sorry if I wasn't clear. At 9:30 a.m. this morning, the announcer was doing her show live from West Edmonton Mall. She didn't make a big deal out of it being a Remote, but just casually talked to people as they passed by her location.
