Clear Sky wants Modern Rock for Lethbridge

Postby radiofan » Thu Apr 24, 2014 10:37 am

Clear Sky Radio has applied to the CRTC for approval for purchase CKVN FM in Lethbridge from Golden West for $1.3 million. The sale is conditional on the CRTC approving Clear Sky's request to
have specialty format licence conditions removed from CKVN's licence.

Clear Sky currently owns CJOC FM Lethbridge and CJCY FM in Medicine Hat and has applied for a new FM in Cranbrook, BC.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Good old call letters CKVN ......

A number of us had a load of fun at 1900 West 4th .... even more fun after CHUM bought it and became CFUN (again.)

Then Lee Smith took the CKVN jingle package and applied it to his CRTC licence free "Low Power FM Special Events Radio" operation in downtown Winnipeg transmitting from the top of The Richardson Building when he established Canada's first Special Events Radio operation. That was eventually converted to CHNR 100.7 for 3 years of operation before selling to Newcap, then to Evanov.

The next to use them was Golden West in Lethbridge.

I wonder who will be next?
