The One in Leduc Replaces Sean Burke with Gruff

Postby jon » Mon Aug 25, 2014 4:30 pm

While looking for The One in Leduc's job ad for Mornings, I stumbled upon the station's Facebook post that said they snagged Gruff Gushnowski to replace Sean Burke on Mornings:
While you may have heard that Sean Burke has resigned to return to an Edmonton radio station, we’re extremely excited to announce that One Mornings will be in great hands as James “Gruff” Gushnowski joins 93.1 The One effective September 2.

“Gruff” joins The One 93.1 FM - Leduc's Best Country fresh off of hosting 790 CFCW mornings with Sharon Mallon. His knowledge of the region, country music, intense community involvement and loyal listener following will help take 93.1 The One to new heights.

Gruff’s previous experience includes stints as Program Director at the legendary K97 Edmonton as well as The Goat in Lloydminster.

In addition to hosting One Mornings, Gruff will take on the new role of Operations Manager for Blackgold Broadcasting Inc., parent company of 93.1 The One.

One Mornings with Gruff Gushnowski starts entertaining Leduc County right after Labour Day.

We wish Sean all the best and thank him for his contributions to 93.1 The One since our station launched.

Meanwhile, KG Country in Red Deer is now without a morning show. Not that they'll have dead air next week.

Their Morning Show has its own web site: kgmornings.com

No matter where you go on the web site, you get the home page. A field of grain and the following message:
The all new
KG Mornings
Coming Soon

Who's replacing Tim Day? I was listening to his farewell program the afternoon of the 8th. Ashley is now doing the Alberta Top 30 countdown program.

Tera Lee has been promoted from morning co-host to morning host/music director at KG Country (CKGY-FM) Red Deer. Lucas Gilbertson, who was with Corus Calgary in promotions, is Lee’s new morning co-host...
(Broadcast Dialogue)

Chantelle Jay has moved from Middays to PM Drive. Abbey White moves from Evenings to Middays. And Tyler Dettling moves from Weekends to Evenings:
Tyler was raised in Edmonton, regrettably molding him into an Oilers fan. After finishing high school and trying out a handful of jobs, none of which he liked he decided he would try and hack it in radio. Went to school at NAIT, got the call to come down to Red Deer to work weekends. Now he is very excited to be on the evening show Monday to Friday.

Fresh out of broadcast school, after a career change from Nursing, Sylvan Lake Native Jessica Hoy is now doing weekends.
