On this board I've suggested, if not at times dared even implored, someone (anyone) to take on Country 105. Including Rawlco's 97.7, Harvard when they triggered the hearings for 95.3, and 101.5 back when Bell took on ownership with its purchase of CHUM's holdings.
As for Pattison and the Country format they launched JRfm in Vancouver and Country 95.5 in Lethbridge (formerly 1090 CHEC); moved CHAT Medicine Hat to FM, in 2006, after buying New Country 1270 in 2000; and have acquired a few others in Saskatchewan, such as CJNB, that were formerly Rawlco properties.
Country 95.5 in Lethbridge has some veteran broadcasters some of whom worked in Calgary - Brent Brooks at 960 CFAC and wasn't Buzz McEgan at Country 105?
As for the pin being pulled on the format in Kelowna I'd say the decision and direction came from the Kamloops office. That's an opinion.
