Oh my bad jon i misread lol.Now i get the details.

Speaking of Newcap.I would like to see newcap try again to buy the stations in ontario someday in the near future. That way they can get rid of acouple Moose FM stations through out ontario and create new formats and new station names.Moose sounds alittle boring in my knowledge.thier too many moose fm's through out ontario.

Thursday Launch?

Postby jon » Sun Oct 04, 2009 7:52 pm

Someone named "Brett Geislinger" on Facebook is reporting that he has heard a launch date of this Thursday for Yerxa's Edmonton station. But, he's not positive.

Looks like things are heating up in the Edmonton market. "The way you listen to the Bounce on Monday will change forever."
These were the tags being played on the Bounce last week. This probably requires another thread but carefully assuming 107 will come on as direct competition for 91.7, I felt this little tid bit of info pertains enough to how 107 is already influencing the current market.
Pepper and Dylan have an announcement on the Bounce after 8:30 tomorrow morning.

With a long weekend coming up, launching on Thursday and going commercial free until Tuesday morning would make sense.

No mention of the launch in the one break I heard this afternoon.

Some interesting tunes played this afternoon, most notably:
  • Woman to Woman - Joe Cocker (1972)
  • Captain Bacardi - Antonio Carlos Jobim (1968)

The big announcement? Commercial-free Mondays.

Likely to be revoked when

a) the fall ratings period is over
b) the economy picks up

So much for the NEW FM branding.....turns out it's HOT 107. The station just launched today at 4PM (PDT) taking direct aim at The Bounce. The call letters are indeed CJNW.

10,000 songs in a row "without commercial interruption". How exciting can you get?

Staff is TBA: "HOT DJs - COMING SOON. We’re making sure we find the HOTTEST DJs on the planet. Check back soon to see who we’ve found!"

Katy P - Hot N Cold
Owl City - Fireflies
50 Cent - Baby By Me
Britney Spears - 3

5:39 pm - head-on anti-Bounce imaging (I'll have it for you to hear in a few minutes).

Aren't they using the Cat Country bay inside the Newcap facility?

Somehow this doesn't sound like what they promised before the CRTC to get this license.

Too bad Rogers didn't apply for and promise an All-Hawaiian music specialty format -- and then switch to all-news at sign on.

As if the CRTC's credibility could get worse ...

Take "format" promises out of the process. They're not regulated, therefore irrelevant.

Yeah. Like I can apply for a building permit to construct a garage and install a swimming pool instead.

The process is a joke when you promise a commitment to being part of a cultural community and then fail to live up to it, foresaking your pledge for the plucking of the current-most lucrative demo.

"And what do you promise to do with the privilege of operating a frequency," the CRTC asks.

"Anything we damn well please," the applicant responds.

"Okay. Done. See us in five years and we'll rubber stamp your continued mis-representation."

Insert [voice-tracking, syndication, automation, remote operation, Kraft Dinner wages, concentrated ownership] here and radio continues its death spiral.

You either have to regulate formats and include them in the process, or not regulate them and leave them out. The current combination is silly. Why would an applicant tip off everyone on their exact format plans if they don't have to?
