Where did Coach go

Postby RoadRunner65 » Thu Dec 03, 2009 2:53 pm

Hey guys. Was just wondering if anyone knows where the coach from lite96 went to. I was talking to a coworker and she told me he was heading down to the States. Does anyone know

Like for a vacation? Do you want to stalk him? ;)

Always enjoyed listening to Don, Joanne and Coach when I was in Calgary.

Wondered what came of Jim/Jamie Herbison too.

They really cut back his involvement with the show once Joanne Johnson started reading the news, after Lisa Grant left Lite 96, and eliminated the sports reports the Coach used to give.

Wasn't "The Coach" Jamie Herbison? Didn't he get his start in Calgary with Bruce Bowie
and Jacquie Donaldson on 1140 CISS AM when it was oldies?

Earlier than that Radiofan I think he worked with Bruce Bowie at CHED during the first version of the CHED Morning Crew (i.e., before Rob and Audie).

Coach joined Bowie on the morning crew at CISS when Gene Taylor/Dieter Stachow left for CHAM Hamilton. Joke on page 6 of the Calgary Sun with Jim Davies had Dieter taking on the name Ryan Water for his Country gig at CHAM when announcing his departure from CISS.

Later, Coach was host of "Hot Sports" from 9 to 11 p.m. with Don Chapman when CISS added talk programming to its line-up which included "Hot Talk" with Charles Adler initially from 9 to 11 a.m. weekdays.

Coach, AKA Jamie Herbison, has or is getting married to a lady residing in San Francisco. Although he's gone down there to be with his new bride, he has rented out his house in Calgary so not sure whether he considers the marriage or living in SF a permanent gig :)

Looks like he's moving back to Calgary. Earlier this week he was on with Don and Joanne on XL-103.

His wife has taken a new job with Chevron and they're returning to Calgary in February. Coach, in speaking with Don and Joanne, said he's hoping for a February like it was in 1988 when the temperature was bumped up by Chinook winds and there was concern about having enough snow for the Winter Olympics.
