I think it's Golden West that got the licence for Okotoks, a Calgary bedroom community. Does anyone know anything about this forthcoming station?

If Elmer gets another station besides The Eagle in Okotoks, I have to wonder if he has to play by the same sales and marketing-rules in that he can't have representations in Calgary.

It's kinda weird, too, 'cause Calgary city-advertisers still use The Eagle, but it's on a knudge-knudge, wink-wink basis. Nor does The Eagle show in a Calgary Book.

Out-of-towners can appreciate that Okotoks is only about 15 minutes outside the Calgary city limits so a radio signal is right there anyway.

One difference with the new station..only 18.000 watts Vs the 100,000w The Eagle pumps out.

Probably still enough to cover Calgary. Most Toronto stations are 40,000 watts or less.

I think most of those Toronto stations have their stick on the CN tower.

Hard to say/we'll see. The multicultral station in Calgary at 53,000 watts, but its transmitter is 15 km NW of Calgary. The signal is scatchy in-house in the northwest. Okotoks is 25 kms south, so at 18,000 watts, it's really depends if Elmer's tower is north of Okotoks.

18,000 may be good for T.O., at 97 quare kilometres large, but Calgary is about 320 quare kilometres (the most spead city in the country, I believe).
