I have been using Firefox as a browser for some time....but am running into software that can only be downloaded in Internet Explorer. I upgraded to IE 7 and the damned thing isn't working.....I tried again....same thing...the screen shows at the top...the following

http:\\go.microsoft.com/FWLINK/?LINKLD=74005 - Windows Internet Explorer

Can anyone suggest a way to get this bloody thing going?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

use restore and restore to before you downloaded IE7

if you still have an earlier IE please use that and don't download IE7

best of luck - but John you play with you computer too much - buy one that you don't touch and just play with one of them until it doesn't work but you will always have a puter you haven't fucked yet.

just a few thoughts from warm okanagan

restore:

all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore

IE7 doesn't work in all versions of Window's. It would be much better if you went to version 6 again... I don't recall the version of Windows that you are running.

If you have XP with Service Pack 2 the link below has the IE7 version for it.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en

Some people either haven't or won't install Service Pack 2 for XP.

If you have auto update turned on, then you probably have SP2 installed if your OS is XP.

Right click on MyComputer, select Properties, and see the tab for the OS version and Service Pack ID number.

You can also download and use Opera... the odds are that some things will not work in it either... this is the problem when someone only designs their site to use a Microsoft format.

I just checked on my IE7, John, and that link (it is LINKID, not LINKLD, by the way) should have taken you to http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx

This is part of the IE7 installation, where it makes you tell it what your default search provider should be when you type in a URL that goes nowhere (like a typo) or is currently dead. In previous IE versions, you got Microsoft's search thing, whether you liked it or not.

John

You've got to retire that old Radio Shack TRS-80 and move out of the 80's old boy.
