MICROSOFT rolled out a series of patches late Tuesday night for Windows XP, but the US Department of Homeland Security has warned that one bug patch should be implemented immediately.

U.S. Homeland Security said security patch MS06-040 will fix a critical patch that could allow other people to take over computers.

The vulnerability, it said, "could impact government systems, private industry and critical infrastructure, as well as individual and home users."

The patch in question is here

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/ms06-040.mspx

It effects XP, Win2k, Win2003 servers and pro editions.

The Microsoft site says nothing about any of the Win98 or ME operating systems.

See my previous message about switching over to Linux Ubuntu or get more info on it here http://www.ubuntu.com/ ;)
