Subject: IMPORTANT NOTICE - Email attachment filenames

A few notes on the naming of email attachments:

Do not send (or have others send to you) an attachment that has more than one period in the name. For example if the attachment is a Word document it may be called whatevername.doc but should not be called whatever.jpg.doc This is because many virus infections use this method to sneak past users pretending to be a legitimate file when in fact they are a virus or other dangerous file. From now on, any email sent to a @jrfm.com or @600am.com email address that contains more than one period in the name of an attachment, it will no longer make it through as it is a security vulnerability.
Similarly, special characters (meaning @#%'":; etc.) should not be included in the filename of an attachment, as again they can have special meaning in email terms and can cause the email system to block an incoming email as being a potential security exploit.
If you are having incoming emails getting blocked that contain attachments, it is likely due to one of the reasons above, so have the sender verify that they are not sending attachments with filenames that violate one of the above rules.
