Communications Watchdog

There is a term called `slammed' with cell phones. There are other consumer communication issues. As mobile phones are now micro computers (ie:android), the trend is expected to continue. Keep this link handy for any future need.

Interesting. I had only ever heard of "slamming" in the land line long distance market, where your long distance service is changed to another company without your permission. It was much more common, perhaps 10 times as frequent, in the U.S. as Canada.

Being switched from one cell phone company to another would be much more annoying.

There is also "unintentional slamming" where poorly-run companies like Vonage will switch one of their (Public Internet-based land lines) phone numbers over to another land line provider without even verifying the name, etc. All they need is a request with the phone number. One typo and two people get messed up: the Vonage customer who was trying to move now has someone else's phone number; and the "someone else" has nothing, not even a dial tone.
