The first thing that came to mind when I read the title is some suit extending his middle finger! :towel: And here I thought it was the job of disgruntled employees to perform that task!!! :boxer:

Well, at least it wasn't a Chief Branding Officer. Look around Astral these days and half the managers have "Branding" in their position title.

That's because they use red hot pokers to manage the peons.

And here I thought that Cowboy Management Methods were restricted to companies with Head Offices in Calgary and Texas. Cue the avatar of the guy with the arrow sticking out of him. Or was that surgically removed on a trip to the U.S. because it wasn't covered by the Canada Health Act?

I see that their Chief Digital Officer is a believer in "immediate delivery", an old management theory that says you deliver something exciting three times: immediately, medium term and long term.

From sandyman's fav source (I had to look at the calendar and make sure it wasn't before noon on April 1):

Canada Gets All-Chicken TV Channel

Product placement deal puts Rotisserie Channel on Rogers Cable dial.

TORONTO – Canada already has a hypnotic Fireplace Channel on the local airewaves each Christmas, where a yule log burns in a fireplace 24/7.

Turns out ambient TV is catching on here as Rogers Cable introduces a digital TV channel with a constant loop of roasting chickens turning on a spit.

The Media in Canada newspaper reports Rogers has teamed up with the Swiss Chalet fast food chain to launch the all-chicken channel on Feb. 28 for digital TV subscribers as part of a major product placement deal.

The mesmerizing Rotisserie Channel will feature two rows of finger-licking good birds roasting in an open-flame oven, with crackling fire sound effects in the background.

It's apparently for Swiss Chalet so whomever wrote that story could be charged with copyright infringement.
Even though they're not currently using it, that phrase "Finger licking good" belongs to KFC and was, at least at one time, copyrighted by them.

Canada's answer to the National Enquirer, AKA The Globe & Mail, has got wind of this exclusive scoop now, too:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-o ... le1916539/

With a great end to an opening paragraph like "a bit of poultry in motion." and the great finish "True Swiss Chalet fans may just find it appealing, even if vegetarians are inclined to cry fowl."

Most telling of all is the italicized last line "This article contains corrected information". The once great Globe & Mail is now to the point they can't even get a chicken cooking story right. Why don't they just rename the paper "The National Post" and be done with it?

Oh, I forgot, that name is still taken. The successors of Canwest haven't figured out who to put it out of its misery yet.
