Global blunders

News from the world of Television

Did anyone catch Global's late news last night? Jill Krop called on Wayne Cox to give a brief weather summation......his summation was the one he gave the night before....eventually Jill and the sports guy joked about it. Actually, she did not joke about the screwup at the start of the news......getting deeply into the Pickton trial, then suddenly an unannounced break for commercials......going back to news, she changed the subject with a very straight face.

Another thing....for Pete's sake....do we also have to keep seeing Pickton climbing over that fence in his pig sty......and the bloody newspapers...do we have to keep seeing that lone picture of him with his head turned on an angle. I was sick of those two shots of him four years ago.

It's all a part of Global's cost cutting.
All Master Control Operations for all of Globals stations west of Winnipeg are now handled out of Calgary.
As for the taped weather, all of the local tv stations record the late weather usually right after the 6pm show, unless there is some extreme weather expected and then, someone will be brought in to do it live.
It became possible to tape (or hard-drive) the weather when Environment Canada stopped issuing the 10pm forecast.
The last forecast now comes out around 4 in the afternoon.
Anyone who thinks any of these stations gets most of its weather information from anywhere else is delusional.

Yours may be on the wet coast, but in Abbotsford we have to rely on the Bellingham weather.....it does differ.
