Hey Cleaver.... you're talking like a grown-up on the Ontario board. Why not try it here.
Your schtick is really lame.

All Sun TV is trying to get is somewhat of a level playing field. They aren't asking for government handouts like the Mother Corp. CTV and CBC's offerings are shoved down cable subscribers throats whether they want to eat or not. I think Sun TV's programming is low rent but they don't have taxpayer lolly to perk up production values. How about another CBC darling, George Strombo? Another money pit of taxpayer cash that isn't justified by ratings. Didn't he date the head of network programming a schwingy forty something?

In seem to recall just last year they hypocritically petitioned for corporate welfare from the government and to force Bell, which a private corporation to mandatorily cover them and to impose additional fees on subscribers.

Sun's ratings are abysmal and it's because of their own undoing. Not the CBC.

Ford leveling the playfield for SUN? :laughing1: :laughing2: :laughing3: :laughing5: :laughing8: :laughing9:

The only hypocrites are the Sun bashers that have no problem with their tax dollars being handed over to the CBC or being forced to pay for CTV News Net and CBC Newsworld. Hypocrites like Cleaver that complain about government bureaucrats but can't wait for them to hassle someone with a point of view he doesn't agree with. This is also the same guy that moans and groans about how big corporations have cut jobs in broadcasting. Seems to me he should be praising Quebecor for creating hundreds of new broadcasting jobs and losing 15 million dollars a year in the process. I don't think it's too much to ask for them to get the same deal that everyone does.

I get it, you hate the CBC, but what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Perhaps you could start a new thread and whine and make ad hominum attacks towards another RW contributor there, instead if injecting your biased ideology and derailing a thread with a completely unrelated topic.

Hey Dave look up the word "illiterate" in the dictionary. You probably don't have one but you can find one online. Where did I say I hate the CBC?
Then when you're done looking up "illiterate" try "biased". My point is that Sun TV should be treated like everyone else. See the big letters in the headline at the top of the thread? It says Sun News Network.

Oh so now you presume I don't have a dictionary or know the meaning of words? Such nonsense!

You said it plain as the nose on your face, with heaping helping of hyperbole on the side. Besides that, SUN IS treated like everyone else with with a singular self-interest at the forefront. They are not about building community or consolidation, they are solely about bigottry towards those who don't buy into their ideology. Period.

SUN has been a losing enterprise from outset and will continue to lose at the rate they're going. I uphold their right to piss 18 million dollars a year up against the wall. It only makes them look like bigger fools.

All the news channels should be grouped together on the cable dial just like the sports channels. Viewers like yourself can just lock onto the CBC and shut out any other opinions. Some viewers might flip between BC1, Sun, CBC and CTV to get a wider variety of opinions. What's wrong with that?
Sure Sun is biased. So is the CBC.

Nothing is wrong with that.

The CBC has a bias, I'll concede to that point. However it's nowhere to the degree that haters of the CBC claim it to be. There are far more programs that contribute to common principles of Canadians than those that don't. That's more than I can say about SUN, which is entirely motivated to bigottry towards liberal Canadians.

When the spectrum got set up years ago, a very tiny slice of bandwidth was set aside for public radio in the absence of crass commercialism. Parks on the airways if you will. You cannot hunt, trap, fish, build a factory or advertise with billboards in a national park. If I start a campground or nature hike or any other eco business or even not at all, that does not give me the right to demand the national park has to go for some ideological principle I hold. It's not about me and it's definitely not about you. Yet refuse to see the us in the CBC for your narrowmindedness.

Anyway, this thread is about watching a trainwreck from the Titanic that are the Ford brothers on SUN News.

I doubt anyone will hang on it, but you are welcomed to have the last word.

. . . and that's when the image of Nikita Kruschev at the U.N. pounding a desk with his shoe and railing against capitalism came to mind. :violent1:

Tuned, you should move to the US.
They have lots of wingnut channels both on radio and TV.
The CBC, the last time I listened or watched, had a variety of opinions on the air.
That's much more than I can say for Herr Harper's mouthpiece, The Sun "News" Network, aptly compared to Faux "News" in the US.

I don't know much about civic politics or broadcasting so I have decided to have the last word on this thread

You can do better than that Cleaver. It was just a matter of time before the Yankee bashing started. It's so Canadian. The CBC does not have a "wide variety of opinions". It's left or lefter. Where's the balance to Suzuki? So what if Sun TV is a "mouthpiece for Harper"? What are you afraid of? All the smart people can watch the CBC and the dummies can watch Sun TV. Would that be ok? I really should have let Bennest have the last word. :canflag1:

I really have trouble with Rob Ford's continuing cry that he be given some "Personal Space" surrounding his "Personal Problems" now that he signed up for this weekly television show, putting himself back in the Spotlight of Public Scrutiny.

Almost as much as I had trouble with "I am not a Crack Addict. I am not an Alcoholic." then biting his tongue before he made the obvious next statement "I am not in Denial."

I am also surprised that he has patched things up with his brother Doug enough for them to co-host the Sun show.
