VICTORIA, BC, April 24 /CNW/ - Roy Gardner, General Manager, BC Region
for CanWest MediaWorks announced today that CH Vancouver Island will relaunch
its local news programming under the station's historic call letters, CHEK,
effective September 2007. CHEK News will feature an updated on-air visual
identity and will continue to provide local news and information programming.
"Over 50 years ago, CHEK arrived on the scene as the province's first
private broadcaster and we have been a vital part of Victoria's landscape ever
since," said Gardner. "The return to CHEK News is illustrative of our
connection with and commitment to serving our community with the most in-depth
coverage of Vancouver Island's local issues, stories and events."
Nationally, the network currently known as CH will be rebranded under the
E! banner beginning this fall. The network schedule will continue to feature a
mix of primetime network programming and will include the extensive library of
E! content during daytime, late primetime and weekends. Schedule details will
be available in June 2007.
