Steele replacement on CTV 9 has quite a pedigree

Postby kal » Mon Aug 24, 2015 11:46 am

CTV 9 has signed a journalist with an established pedigree, including numerous Emmys, for its consumer segment on the daily 6-7 pm news slot.

Ross McLaughlin also has multiple Murrow awards to his name. Sounds like a solid signing for the program that has been nibbling at the heels of longtime front runner Global.

That reference to the name has been bandied about quite a bit in recent years.

Ross is legit.

He spent a number of years at ITV Edmonton (now Global) where he anchored newscasts and did a "Steele on your side" type segment for many years called "The Troubleshooter." From ITV he went to KIRO 7 in Seattle.

Ross and radiofan, and other RadioWest members, may have crossed paths at CHQR in Calgary or CFAC and CHFM radio.

I was gobsmacked - shows you that I am out of touch. Still ironic as heck.

Actually, "fewer staff" is gramatically correct. ;-)

Hope you'll tune in for Ross' killer first story on Sept 8th.

CTV 9? Haven't watched CIVT in years, but in the HD age they still refer to that old SD cable assignnent?

Flipping heck, even Ma Corp doesn't say Cable 3...

Many here are applauding the selection of someone with the kind of experience that Randy Lennox has.
