Steve Darling out at Global BC

Postby radiofan » Fri Oct 07, 2016 1:35 pm

A twitter feed from Steve Darling in the past few minutes confirms he is no longer with Global BC

It's a sad day. My job has been eliminated and after 18 years I have been let go by @GlobalBC. I will now be looking for new opportunities

Thanks to all my @GlobalBC friends and all the people I have met along the way. You have no idea how much those relationships have meant

Never a good thing when it happens, but the sleeping in part is cool.
Enjoy a bit of a break Steve.

An incredible outpouring of support for Steve Darling at the Vancouver Sun's Facebook page. At least 600 comments at last check.

Thanksgiving Weekend?

This is so typical of this business.

Best wishes to Steve and I hope you get a new gig soon.

Sadly, too many of us, have had the same thing happen, in our life.

So, Steve Darling's position was eliminated. Does this mean there will no longer be an anchor?

Maybe Corus will replace the Global Morning News with a live video feed of the John McComb show on CKNW.

That would make good sense to the bean counters and shareholders.

If you want to read lots of comments Tom, see what's been posted on the Vancouver Sun site since Stephanie Ip's story appeared online on Friday.

http://vancouversun.com/news/local-news ... eliminated

There are now over 2,000 comments. If any sizable percentage of the posters do indeed abandon Global for CTV or elsewhere, the dismal Global Morning Show ratings posted a few weeks ago will
be even farther into the tank almost immediately.
