Two Musical Birthdays

Postby jon » Sat Jul 23, 2011 1:06 pm

I thought it would be nice to mention two birthdays of singers who are still alive.

Chuck Jackson, who was a solo artist in the '60s and part of the Dell-Vikings in the 1950s until Jackie Wilson gave him a big break.

Cleveland Duncan, lead singer of the Penguins, with a big hit right when Rock and Roll really broke, at the end of 1954, "Earth Angel".

Norm N. Nite was honouring both today on 50s on 5, with live telephone interviews (Norm broadcasts live from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland), and even mentioned that "Earth Angel" was the first record he ever bought, as a kid, the 78 rpm version.
