Top 40 Regional Differences in Charting Music

Today's CKY and CFUN charts are a great example of just how different individual major markets were when it came to charting songs. I've taken them from this morning's Today in History and you can see them at the bottom of this post.

Note the #1 songs on each. Neither is charted at all on the other station!

Admittedly, J. Frank Wilson did eventually chart, and make it to #3, on CFUN, but not for another month. I don't have access to CKY charts to know if Nino ever charted on CKY.

The one hit wonder at #2 on CKY is #3 on CFUN. But #2 (Elvis) on CFUN is #45 on CKY, its first week on the chart.

such a neat thing. I should try to get the countdown show I do printed in the paper! Like a retro style ad.
