Best Summer songs from AM radio

Anything to do with the world of music...old or new

Postby Stn Brk » Sun Jul 09, 2006 7:54 pm

I'd forgotten all about 'They're coming to take me away..ha ha'. Great song. Now it's going to be rocketing around in my head for the next four days.

Adding my two cents' worth - how about the timeless 'Don't worry, be happy.' Perfect on the ghetto blaster at the beach. And anything by the Beach Boys.

And for Neumann: Your next challenge is to post the lyrics for the "B" Side of the 45! :D

Okay...the "B" side is the same song, only the words are backwards..so, no, I don't think I can translate or transcribe "those" lyrics.
I can, however, offer a list of 21 seperate versions, sequels or permutations of the song including some versions in Spanish, German and maybe Dutch or Polish:

Napoleon XIV - They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-haaa!

Josephine XV - I'm Happy They Took You Away, Ha-haaa!

Henry The IX - Don't Take Me Back Oh-nooo!

The Emperor - I'm Normal

Napoleon XIV - The Place Where The Nuts Hunt The Squirrels

Malepartus II - Ich Glaab Die Hole Mich Ab

Josephine XIII - Down on The Funny Farm Oy Vey!

Napoleon Puppy - Ellos Me Quieren Lievar

Floris VI - Ze Nemen Me Eindelijk Mee Ha-haaa!

Kim Fowley - They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-haaa!

Rose Brooks - They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-haaa!

Teddy and Darryl - They Took You Away, I'm Glad I'm Glad

I Balordi - Venqono a Potarci Via Ah-aah!

Los Ovnis - Napoleon XIV

Hugo de Groot - Ze Nemen Me Eindelijk Mee, Ha-haaa!

Napoleon XIV - They're Coming To Get Me Again, Ha-haaa!

Mad Dog Society - They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-haaa!

Inhuman Orchestra - They're Coming To Take Me Away

Snopek and The Unexploded Bomb - They're Coming To Take Me Away

Lard - They're Coming To Take Me Away

Napoleon XIV - !Aaah Ah Yawa Em Ekat Ot Gnimoc Er'yeht

I may have to post an MP3 of both sides to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of it's release..

Palisades Park by Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon brings back great memories of fun times at the PNE and Playland.

That ole wooden roller coaster is still one of the best anywhere on the west coast.

Ain't no way you could ignore The Beach Boys for music in the summer...take your pick....early 60's were the best. Mind you, anything prior to that were pretty darned good too.....before that Hendrix crap took over later in the decade. May I remind you, I introduced him on a rock show in Montreal...the guy couldn't even remember who he was.

B) Please. let's not forget Summertime,Summetime by the Jamies! (ok,if we must..sigh..) BUt seriously..Suavecito by Malo is one of THE great summer sounds of all time.BTW..I still own a few of the classic Bob Masse posters, along with some ancient CKVN summer banners and posters. If I can ever figure out how to post them after scanning, I'd love to share em with everyone here.

Santana in the early 70's with "Oye Como Va" and Santana again close to 35 years later with "Smooth". That man's style never gets old. Genius!

Summer for me is anything from Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
All of a sudden - I am 18 again....working at Chateau Lake Louise.
