The Rock and Roll Society of Edmonton
Hits the Scene with a Gala Rock and Roll Party

The Rock and Roll Society of Edmonton is thrilled to announce its official launch party on March 20, 2010, at the historic Fort Edmonton Park Blatchford Airfield Hanger. Providing entertainment for the celebration is Canadian guitarist extraordinaire, David Gogo; Alberta rock legend, Carson Cole; and Edmonton’s own Flying Saucers.

“The Rock and Roll Society of Edmonton is dedicated to preserving the music we grew up with and promoting the music we love today,” says society spokesman, Martin Salloum. “We embrace the alltime classic rock greats, while appreciating today’s equally impressive artists.

Headlining the March event is David Gogo, twice named Guitarist of the Year at the Maple Blues Awards and Musician of the Year at the Western Canada Music Awards. “David absolutely captivated the audience with his blistering guitar licks and mesmerizing vocals at Edmonton’s Labatt’s Blues Festival held last August,” says Salloum. “While his feet are planted in the Blues, his electric performances are original power blues rock, and have earned him critical acclaim across North America and Europe. David’s newest CD, Different Views, is his tenth release and filled with tunes that are sure to rock the Fort. “We’re thrilled to have him join us to launch the society.”

With his 14th CD being released at the March 20 gig, Cole’s newest compilation, ‘Who the Hell is Biker Joe?’ is a collection of music reflecting the people, places and stories he’s connected with in recent years. “Born and bred in rural Alberta, Carson Cole is a household name and cultural icon across Canada,” says Salloum. “He’s an amazing performer and songwriter best known for his original music and amazing vocal delivery.” Ranging from a deep whiskey-laced baritone, Cole’s melodic mid-range and glass-shattering high notes keep listeners engaged, while his story-telling lyrics complete the package. “Carson Cole’s life and music is the epitome of rock and roll. He’s a strong supporter of Edmonton’s music community and we’re honoured to have him support the society and this event.”

Completing the March line-up is Edmonton’s Flying Saucers. The Flying Saucers have built a loyal fan base over around town over the past 20 years. “From Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd, to Santana and the Beatles, The Flying Saucers cover some of the best-loved rock tunes over the years. They’re the perfect band to complete the line-up and we’re excited to have them be a part of our launch.”
